Amsterdam, the Netherlands, will host the next International Celiac Symposium. The event, scheduled for April 2009, once again will bring together scientists and physicians from around the world for a comprehensive update on developments related to the disease.

The race is on to find a way to to treat celiac disease that goes beyond a gluten-free diet. Early progress toward a "celiac pill" is promising, indeed--though researchers stress that a non-dietary treatment is still at least several years away.
